An introduction to me

You may know me as Fleeksie. But I’m Shelly if you’re here for the raw shit.

I’ve been addicted to the internet since 2003 and have lived online since I was 8 years old.

I tried to be normal in college, do the whole, “offline” thing. I wasn’t good at it. I caught myself admiring others, wishing that was me. By the age of 24 (2018) my peers, exes, and family would openly shame me for NOT being online. One Saying I “missed my opportunity” at 18 years old. “Too bad you didn’t start then”, I was “old” now. (The words of men, not mine).


I’ve owned Fleeksie since 2019, birthing her off the heels of two job firings (in a row), and one college graduation. And yes, I started at the ripe age of 24. LOL.

It was the kind of societal rejection that really makes a girl say fuck it, and go all in on you.

But really, my mother said I’m too funny, too cute, and too smart to not be online.

So that’s a really short weird way to say, hi! That’s why I’m here today.

But truthfully, it’s because there are conversations and expressions of self that can only take place here. With you guys. Who objectively, spend more time with me than my friends, family, and my co workers.

I don’t think it’s sad that this gathering of like minds exist digitally. I’m a blue dot in Florida, so I’m well acquainted to hiding in plain sight like this with you all.

To wrap this up with more facts about me,

I went to a community college (Valencia), where I received my AA degree, went to UCF - where I earned my Bachelors in Anthropology (Culture, Global Health), and have taken to personally manning my own content production solely for myself since.

I’m 30 years old, I’m a Leo, and I’m Dominican and Puerto Rican, and a first generation American.

I’ve worked in marketing the last 3 years professionally as a Content Manager for a professional hair care company.
